About the Research Group FOR5807
The Research Group FOR5807 studies how the brain and body respond to changes in the environment. We focus on special proteins called GPCRs that help cells communicate and control organs and behaviour.
We want to understand:
- How the same signal can have different effects in different organs.
- How and when signals are released and cleared.
- How GPCR signals work inside cells.
We focus on three main areas:
- Brain (CNS): Senses the environment and controls the body.
- Heart: Strongly controlled by the nervous system.
- Animal behaviour: How animals respond to their surroundings.
Using new optical tools, we can control and watch GPCR signals in real time, from tiny parts of cells to the whole animal. This helps us understand how signals affect the heart, brain, and behaviour.
